Brian worked for a number of years in the IT industry, then re-trained as a teacher of ICT and Business Studies and taught in Nottinghamshire for nine years before joining the Local Authority’s School Improvement Service as Secondary ICT Adviser. Most recently, he worked for Becta until its closure in March 2011. With over 30 years experience, he specialises in the use of technology for communication between schools and their stakeholders, including the use of learning platforms, e-safety and parental engagement.
Brian’s approach to technology in education is characterised by pragmatism – is it reasonable to expect this to happen, does it improve what’s already happening and, most of all, does it help children learn? He has a wealth of experience of training teachers to use the latest technologies, developing learning resources and formulating positive and practical strategies for improvement in schools.
In his spare time, he travels extensively, plays guitar really badly and is a practising story-teller. He is also Chair of Governors at his local primary school.
